Heads Up, Huntsville! Weather Changes Ahead with Possible Rain and Strong Winds

Heads Up, Huntsville! Weather Changes Ahead

Good Wednesday morning, folks! Here in Huntsville, we’re starting our day off with some mild temperatures hovering in the middle to upper 60s. As we move through the day, keep an eye on those high clouds, which are making their way into our skies. It looks like we’ll be spending most of the day under a blanket of mostly cloudy skies.

Today’s Forecast

Today’s temperatures are expected to stay just below average, settling in the middle 80s. As the day progresses, we’ll experience an increase in southeasterly winds, which could gust over 20 miles per hour by afternoon. This breeze may feel refreshing, but don’t forget that the humidity is also on the rise. We’re expecting some tropical moisture to start rolling in later tonight, so grab your umbrella just in case!

What About Rain?

Speaking of umbrellas, we might need them as we head toward the evening. We could see some isolated to widely scattered rain showers developing late tonight into early Thursday morning. The temperatures will remain comfortably warm, dipping to the middle 60s overnight. So, if you’re out and about, be prepared for a few drops!

A Heads-Up for Thursday and Friday

Mark your calendars, because Thursday and Friday are shaping up to be significant weather days for Huntsville. We could be dealing with local impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Francine. Thursday is projected to bring periods of moderate to heavy rainfall starting in the morning and likely continuing throughout the day. If you live west of I-65, brace yourself for possibly the highest rainfall totals.

On top of that heavy rain, we also need to be alert for strong winds. Expect some wind gusts to exceed 40 miles per hour throughout Thursday. These gusty conditions could lead to isolated power outages across the Tennessee Valley, so make sure to stock up on essentials just in case.

Additional Rain on the Way

Friday doesn’t look much better, as we’re in for more rounds of heavy rainfall accompanied by those gusty winds. Total rainfall amounts over the next few days could reach anywhere from 1 to 4 inches in various locations across the Tennessee Valley. Make sure to keep an eye on the weather as conditions can change rapidly!

Weekend Outlook

As we look forward to the weekend, it appears the remnants of Hurricane Francine will still be hovering nearby, causing rounds of scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. But don’t get too worried; it won’t be a total washout. We may see some breaks in the rain that can allow for a few outdoor activities. Just be prepared for the possibility of a few interruptions!

Stay Updated!

Remember, conditions can change, and forecasts shift as we get closer to the events. Make sure to stay tuned for the latest updates, whether through your favorite weather app or by checking local updates frequently. It’s better to be informed than caught off guard!

Stay safe, Huntsville, and enjoy the rest of your week!
