Family Reunions and Marching Band Performances

First up, the Hyatt family reunion is set for Saturday, October 19, at the Baileyton Senior Center. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., family members will gather to reconnect and share a delicious covered dish lunch. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy time with loved ones!

If you want to catch some fantastic music, don’t miss the 2024 Marching Bands of Limestone County Night of the Bands, scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, at East Limestone’s Canvar Field. The event kicks off at 6 p.m., featuring an exciting performance by the UNA Marching Pride. Tickets are only $5, making it an affordable evening of entertainment for the whole family.

A Cause Worth Supporting

On Sunday, October 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the 2024 Canebrake Witches Ride will take place, raising funds and awareness for the Pink Elephant Fund at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Festivals and Celebrations

The weekend of October 26 and 27 is looking especially lively with multiple events. First, the Limestone County NAACP Youth Council invites you to a Pre-Halloween Social on Saturday, October 26, at Hobbs Plaza. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy pizza, drinks, and candy, all free of charge! Plus, there will be a best costume prize up for grabs – so come dressed to impress!

Later that weekend, Friendship Church will host its annual Harvest Festival. Celebrations kick off Saturday at 5 p.m. at the North Campus in Elkmont and continue Sunday at both the Lucas Ferry and Cambridge Campuses starting at 4:30 p.m. This two-day festivity is sure to be full of joy, fellowship, and fun activities!

Educational and Community Engagement

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 29! The 2024 State of Education and Higher Education Address will be held at Athens State University’s Carter Gymnasium at 8 a.m. This is a valuable opportunity for the community to hear from educational leaders and learn about the vision for our local schools and institutions.

Halloween Fun

Looking to celebrate Halloween? Don’t miss the Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Athens First Christian Church on the same day, October 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Big Spring Park. Bring the family for a night filled with free food, drinks, and, of course, lots of candy!

As we move into November, keep an eye out for the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. Applications will be accepted on Wednesday, November 6, at the United Way of Athens-Limestone County. This program is vital for providing toys to children in need, so let’s come together to support our community!

Lastly, if you’re a fan of delicious meals, join New Life Church on Saturday, November 16, for their King’s Table Thanksgiving Drive-Thru, where a free full-course meal will be served starting at 11 a.m.
