Academic Excellence Shines

What’s really impressive is that this year’s class achieved an overall grade point average of 3.31. A significant highlight of this graduation was the inclusion of 319 first-generation college students, showcasing the determination and hard work that embodies the spirit of the University of Alabama. Honoring the sacrifices and achievements of our military, the ceremony also recognized 13 active-duty military members and 26 veterans who were graduating.

A New Beginning for Graduates

UA President Stuart Bell presided over the ceremonies, relaying an inspiring message about the unfolding of a new journey for all graduates. It was a day to not just celebrate academia but to honor the varied paths each student took to reach this significant milestone.

College Representations Galore

The commencement recognized graduates from an array of colleges, including the Capstone College of Nursing, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Communication and Information Sciences, among others, thus showcasing the diverse academic tapestry that UA weaves. From health sciences to law, the scope of education offered at the university truly knows no bounds.

Spotlight on Student-Athletes

Among the graduates were 35 determined student-athletes from the Crimson Tide, which is no small feat! This included 14 members from the football squad, highlighting a powerful collection of talent. Two standout football graduates, Jah-Marien Latham and Malachi Moore, were part of the celebrated 2020 national championship team, contributing to the wave of victory seen during the SEC Championships in 2020, 2021, and 2023.

Star Players and Their Achievements

Graduates Tyler Booker, Kneeland Hibbett, and Jalen Milroe were among the notable football talents honored in the ceremony, each securing their spot as All-American or All-SEC selections. Not to be overlooked were the graduates from the soccer team, with five athletes including Carys Hall, Kate Henderson, and Gessica Skorka, who is also an All-American. Graduate transfer Nedya Sawan didn’t just graduate; she also earned her third CSC Academic All-District honor, signifying her exceptional academic prowess.

Champions Across Sports

The celebration of athleticism extended beyond football, with the remarkable gymnast Lilly Hudson, a four-time All-American, and fellow All-American Corinne Bunagan graduating together. Not to mention, there’s the seven-time All-American, Kaique Alves from men’s swimming, and All-American Megan Albamonti from women’s track, showing just how wide and diverse the pool of talent is in UA.

Amazing Graduation Success Rates

As graduates take their next steps, the commendable Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for the University of Alabama stood tall at 96%. This impressive figure ties Alabama with prominent schools like Clemson, Louisville, and Michigan, reflecting the supportive and encouraging academic environment fostered at UA.
