Born and raised with a strong sense of determination, Thomas Harris graduated from Auburn University in 1971. He kicked off his career at First Alabama Bankshares, where he held the role of head of national accounts and business development. His vision and skills paved the way for his success in the financial realm.
In 1987, Harris took a giant leap by founding Merchant Capital, an investment banking firm that started in Montgomery but soon expanded its reach throughout the Southeast. His enterprise prospered and made significant waves in the finance world until it was acquired by Stifel Nicolaus Financial Corp. in 2014.
