Registration for the highly anticipated 2024 Summer Spotlight Theatre Camp at James Clemens High School in Madison is officially open to all rising second through ninth graders in the 2024-2025 school year from any school. This exciting opportunity offers the chance for students with a passion for the theatre to learn and grow in an immersive, hands-on environment.
Fondly referred to as “Four Day Broadway”, this unique theatre camp provides students with an opportunity to not only perform but also to work behind the scenes. “We are offering three different ways for involvement – Acting, Musical Theatre, and our exclusive program, Technical Theatre, which isn’t found in any of the elementary or middle schools,” said James Clemens drama teacher Amy Patel.
Students choosing Technical Theatre will get the opportunity to gain practical experience in all the crucial aspects of stage production, from set construction to operating the lighting board to sewing costumes.
The camp will take place from May 28 to May 31, operating daily from 9 a.m. to noon. At the end of the camp, campers will have the opportunity to showcase what they have learned to family and friends in the Spotlight Showcase held at noon on May 31. To celebrate their achievements, a pizza party will follow the performance.
In the lead up to the Showcase, the campers will get to interact with experienced James Clemens drama students who have performed in acclaimed theatre productions such as “Urinetown”, “Metamorphoses”, and “Cyrano de Bergerac”.
Also, participants will get a first-hand understanding of what studying at James Clemens High School may feel like, and make connections that could potentially shape their future educational journey—and life.
Campers have the choice to select their preferred area of interest at the camp:
The camp fee is $75 per student, which covers a T-shirt, a daily snack, a closing pizza party, and a great experience in the theatre world. Campers must carry a water bottle with them daily. To register, visit the online registration form. Payments will only be accepted via LEANSTREAM. Registration will close on April 30, or when the camp reaches capacity. More detailed information will be emailed to all registered participants one week before the camp. For more queries, please drop an email at jamesclemenstheatre@gmail.com.
This unique Four Day Broadway experience is designed to instil a sense of self-confidence, teamwork, and passion in all campers, regardless of the role they choose to play. So rush now and register for this unmatched theatre experience. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to kick start a fulfilling and exciting summer break. Remember, “All the world’s a stage,” and this is your chance to play on it!
