Remembering Steven LaJuan Moss: A Community Pillar and Respected Huntsville Resident

Huntsville, Alabama – In a sorrowful report just received, we learned that longtime Huntsville resident, Steven LaJuan Moss, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Born on March 13, 1961, in Brinkley, Arkansas, he left his earthly existence at the age of 63, with his beloved family by his side.

Early Days and Education

Steven Moss was the cherished son of the late Carlton Moss and Jureline Williams-Scruggs. This native of Arkansas moved to Alabama with his family in 1974. He displayed immense prowess at James Oliver Johnson (J.O. J.) High School, where he graduated in 1979.

Faith and Belief

In 2018, Steven confessed hope in Christ, becoming a devout member of the Draper Memorial Church of God in Christ. He was immensely inspired by and respectful of the church’s head, Reverend Dave Draper, Jr.

Vocation and Innovation

Steven initially found employment at J & J South Central, forming deep friendships that felt like family. Later, he transitioned to WestRock Containers, where he continued to augment his interpersonal circle. The COVID-19 pandemic triggered Steven’s ingenuity, leading him to teach himself to sew. He used this new skill to craft masks and pillows imbued with inspirational messages. His passion for creativity even led him to launch his own clothing line, MossHead, featuring unique T-shirt designs.

Family and Loved Ones

Steven is survived by Melody Lacy-Moss, his loyal and loving wife. He was a proud father to five children, Chauntaye Edmond, LaQuisha Lacy, Shanika Moore, Martela Lacy, and Trey Pride. He was also blessed with eleven grandchildren.

Steven’s extended family, including his siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews, will keep his memory alive, cherishing the love, wisdom, and shared moments in their hearts.

Funeral Arrangements

A respectful service is being planned at the Draper Memorial Church of God in Christ, where Elder Dave Draper will officiate. The service will take place at noon on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Steven’s mortal remains will be interred at the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace after the service. A public viewing will occur on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on the day of the service, June 29, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Royal Funeral Home.

Steven LaJuan Moss was a loving patriarch, caring coworker, and adored member of the community whose absence will be deeply felt. His dedication, warmth, and spirit of generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him.
