Spring Plant Sale Blooms Again at Huntsville Botanical Garden

It’s Spring! Plant sale returns to Huntsville Botanical Garden

Huntsville Welcomes the Return of its Annual Spring Plant Sale at the Botanical Garden

The city of Huntsville will be hosting its annual Spring Plant Sale at the Huntsville Botanical Garden from April 12th to 14th. This sale is a delightful opportunity for gardening enthusiasts and nature lovers alike to introduce new flora to their spaces, whether it be apartment balconies or sprawling garden plots.

Quality and Variety Galore

The plant sale pitches high quality and a wide selection as its prime features. You can find a variety of plants, from flowering plants, wildflowers, herbs, trees, shrubs, to vegetables and native species. These specimens are all hardy and are set to flourish in the summer season. The sale is well-known for its showcase of hard-to-find native plant species and unique cultivars, giving the locals access to a diverse collection all under one roof. Additionally, the sale will include plants that have been cared for by the staff at the Huntsville Botanical Garden.

Exclusive Perks for Members

An exclusive event for members will be held on April 11th preceding the public sale. Those who wish to avail of early shopping can opt for membership during the sale. As for the public sale, it will commence from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on April 12, and between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 13. The last day of the sale, April 14, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Diverse Plant Offerings

The sale includes everything from annual and perennial flowers, trees and shrubs. Some of the shade-loving flowers include impatiens, caladiums, coleus, azaleas, hostas, and ferns, perfect for hanging baskets or for mass plantings. Sun-loving flowers include stalwarts like begonias, sunflowers, marigolds, calibrachoas, petunias, Dusty Miller, and lantanas.

Spotlight on the Eastern Redbud

A highlight of the sale includes the showcase of trees like the Eastern Redbud. This tree is capable of thriving in full sunshine to partial shade, growing anywhere from 20 to 30 feet high. Its striking pinkish-purple flowers, which are among the first to bloom in early spring, add a vibrant splash of color to the Southern landscape. Its heart-shaped leaves and vibrant yellow foliage in fall make it an attractive addition to any green space. Bees, butterflies, and birds flourish in the ecosystem created by the tree’s early flowers and seeds.
