Severe Weather Across the Tennessee Valley Causes Downed Trees, Powerlines

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Severe storms are currently sweeping through the Tennessee Valley region, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Various areas across Morgan, Madison, Lawrence, Franklin, Colbert, and Marshall counties have reported incidents of downed trees, powerlines, and property damage due to the intense weather conditions.

Morgan County

In Morgan County, multiple areas have been affected by the severe weather. The following locations have experienced downed trees and powerlines:

  • Hartselle Moss Chapel Road near Highway 31
  • 3600 Block of Barkley Bridge Road
  • Barkley Bridge Road at Powell Road
  • Mt Zion Road at East Thompson Road
  • 300 Block of Cedar Creek Road
  • Mt Zion Road at Nat Key Road

Additionally, damages to homes and barns have been reported in various parts of Morgan County, including Laceys Spring.

Madison County

Madison County has also been significantly impacted by the severe weather. The following incidents have been reported:

  • Lines down with fire on Baltimore Hill between Lockett Drive NE & Settlement Drive
  • High water on Darwin Road and Eakin Road
  • High water on Buckeye Bend in Harvest
  • Camper reported damaged on Oak Grove Road in New Hope

Lawrence County

In Lawrence County, there have been reports of power outages, with 17 customers currently without power. Fortunately, no immediate damages have been reported in the area, according to EMA Director Chris Waldrep.

Franklin County

Within Franklin County, the towns of Red Bay and Vina have seen significant damage from the severe weather. The following incidents have been reported:

  • Lots of downed trees within Red Bay city limits
  • Downed trees on Highways 19 and 247
  • Extensive damage to buildings, including Vina High School

Colbert County

Colbert County has also faced the brunt of the severe weather, with reports of downed trees and powerlines on various county roads. Additionally, a house in Tuscumbia was struck by lightning during the storm.

Marshall County

In Marshall County, the town of Douglas has reported several incidents of downed trees within city limits. Fortunately, the damage is not considered severe at this time, according to Marshall County EMA Director.
