HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — There’s great news swirling around the Cross Creek subdivision this week! After a month of hard work fixing leaky pipes, the Harvest-Monrovia Water Authority announced that all repairs are complete. This news brought smiles and jubilation from none other than the Homeowners’ Association president, Jim Frederick.
Frederick, feeling upbeat, shared, “We had like two or three crews out here fixing stuff left and right, which is nice.” He admitted the repairs took longer than he might have expected, but ultimately, everything got sorted out. “We’re very happy about that!”
Interestingly enough, the repair work unveiled some faulty pipes that many residents, including Frederick, weren’t even aware existed. A particular issue arose with the storm drains nestled near the community walking trail. “There’s four or five of them,” Frederick explained. “One continually has water coming out of it. It’s definitely fresh water.” He speculated whether this could be water from neighboring communities or if all the water is connected to one storm drain. Whatever the case, the continuing flow was a concern.
While talking about the recent discoveries, Frederick mentioned, “It looks like there are like two, maybe three at the most,” referring to the other problematic drains that were also mended. They managed to fix several issues that many in the community weren’t even aware of, greatly reducing the water waste. Isn’t that fantastic news?
As the repairs came to an end, Huntsville has been catching a break from the rain. In fact, FOX54 Weather Impact Meteorologist Jordan Dressman reported that Huntsville saw less than an inch of rain over October—almost three inches shy of what’s usually expected. Much of that rain came only on Halloween, totaling a mere .53 inches! This dry spell led to some pretty significant drought conditions and ultimately prompted the Harvest-Monrovia Water Authority to call for voluntary water restrictions.
Frederick praised the community, saying, “Our whole community did what they were asked.” His relief was evident, especially knowing that repairs were finally completed.
With the repairs now wrapped up in Cross Creek, the Harvest-Monrovia Water Authority is already setting its sights on other projects. Their next tasks include repairs in the Timber Creek subdivision as well as on Harvest Road, Hammond Road, and Ed Johnson Road.
We reached out to Elite Housing Management, the company in charge of daily operations for the Cross Creek subdivision, on what’s coming next, but they kept it close to the chest, saying they “don’t give any kind of commentary out.” This means that residents will have to go through the Harvest-Monrovia Water Authority for further information on those upcoming projects.
As the repairs unfold in the other subdivisions, residents are encouraged to stay tuned for more updates from the water authority. With the teamwork from the community, everyone hopes for a brighter and leak-free future!
