Huntsville Utilities Responding to Power Outage Impacting 60,000 in Madison County

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville Utilities Electric Operations are currently responding to a power outage in Northwest Madison County. According to Huntsville Utilities, around 60,000 residents are without power at this time.

Substation Equipment Failure

According to Gary Whitley with Huntsville Utilities, the issue is an equipment failure inside the substation. There is no indication that the outage is heat-related. Crews are currently on site addressing the problem.

Cause of the Outage

The cause of the outage is unknown at this time as investigations are ongoing. Huntsville Utilities assures residents that their team is working diligently to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
