Exciting news is buzzing around Huntsville as Mayor Tommy Battle, along with City Councilwoman Jennie Robinson and local officials, officially broke ground on The Park at Hays Farm this past Tuesday. This much-anticipated park is set to span nine beautiful acres located at 801 Haysland Road, right near the Hays Farm shopping complex. Residents can expect to enjoy the park by the fall of 2025, after an estimated 14 months of construction.
Mayor Battle expressed enthusiasm about the park’s development, stating that it aims to offer local residents a serene space similar to those enjoyed in other parts of the city. “This park will be versatile enough to be a buzzing hub of activity for friends and families while also providing quiet areas away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s something that everyone will be able to enjoy,” he noted. The design offers a little something for everyone!
What can visitors look forward to when the park opens? Among its standout features will be a one-acre lake and a stunning waterfall that might just become the go-to spot for local photographers. With a special entry portal that includes two family restrooms, the park will be equipped to welcome everyone comfortably. Plus, a pavilion is on the agenda for group events, alongside unique seating spaces perfect for picnics.
Kids can rejoice with plenty of open space to play—the park is welcoming for kite flying, frisbee throwing, and just running around. Active residents will appreciate the inclusion of a fitness court, created in collaboration with Arts Huntsville, along with walking paths that connect to the City’s extensive greenway network. Parking is sorted too, equipped with LED lighting for those lovely evening strolls.
Near the area of the school, there’s also a plan for stone signs that will serve as a picturesque gate, creating a pleasant plaza for pedestrians as they cross the street. Imagine wandering along wide walking trails that meander throughout the beautiful park setting! Notably, a relocated windmill from the Hays family farm will serve as a centerpiece, linking the park’s identity to the Hays Farm mixed-use development.
Councilwoman Jennie Robinson made sure to express gratitude towards the Hays family for their essential role in making this project happen. “We are immensely grateful to the Hays family for their invaluable partnership in this pivotal project. Their dedication to preserving Huntsville’s natural resources while creating opportunities for recreation and education is truly commendable,” Robinson shared. This collaboration is a testament to the vision and hard work behind making our community a better place.
But wait, there’s more! This new park is just one of many exciting developments in District 3. Robinson highlighted that Freedom Real Estate has recently opened its first building in the district, while The Liam now offers leasing options for apartments and townhomes. And it doesn’t stop there! Camden Securities is planning to create a fantastic entertainment district featuring various restaurants and spaces for people to live, work, and play!
Such efforts showcase how city officials, led by City Administrator John Hamilton, are bringing crucial stakeholders together to foster growth in the area. The Park at Hays Farm is not just about green space; it represents a growing, vibrant community, eager to welcome all Huntsville residents.
As we await the park’s opening, it’s clear that Huntsville is on the brink of even more wonderful community experiences. Get ready for family gatherings, picnics, and endless fun activities at The Park at Hays Farm!
