Huntsville is set to see an exciting transformation as a new private school is planned for the historic site of the former Butler High School. The Rock Family Worship Center has announced plans to convert the existing facilities into a K-12 Christian private school named Kingdom Heights Preparatory. As renovations are set to begin, the church aims to open the school by fall 2025, contingent on the timely completion of the necessary updates.
The renovation project is no small undertaking, with initial costs projected at $4.65 million. Altogether, the financial commitment for the project could reach as high as $17 million. The first phase will focus on creating modern classrooms, STEM labs, music and arts studios, as well as upgrading athletic facilities.
Kingdom Heights Preparatory promises to be an accredited school that prioritizes advanced academics, innovative teaching methods, and career readiness. Planned enhancements include:
Reports indicate that several private schools in the area are currently experiencing waitlists, highlighting a clear need for more educational options in Huntsville. Lead Pastor Scott Silcox emphasized the importance of this new school for local families, aiming to provide a robust educational choice that aligns with their values.
The Rock Family Worship Center acquired the vacant Butler High School building in 2019, after which they began holding worship services at the site. The plans for Kingdom Heights Preparatory signify a new chapter in utilizing this prominent space within the community.
As preparations are made for renovations and the eventual opening of the school, the Huntsville community eagerly anticipates this new educational opportunity. With its focus on academic excellence and Christian values, Kingdom Heights Preparatory aims to make a significant impact on students and families in the area.
