Exciting Changes at the Madison Senior Center!
Madison is buzzing with excitement as the Madison Senior Center prepares to welcome back its members to a brand-new location. The center has moved to the beautiful Madison Community Center at 1329 Browns Ferry Road, a former site of the Three Springs facility. This change signifies a fresh start and new opportunities for seniors in our community.
Director’s Warm Welcome
Center Director Levoneia Ayers and her dedicated staff are eager to greet members after a brief pause for the relocation. “The center is beautiful,” Ayers said with infectious enthusiasm. “We have plenty of room to grow, create fun memories, and establish new friendships!”
As the team unpacks, organizes, and adapts to new software, Ayers encourages patience from members. “Please be patient with us as we continue to unpack, organize, learn new software, and plan programming while serving the wonderful people in our community. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. We hope to see you soon,” Ayers added.
Limited Activities During the Transition
While the center settles into its new home, the schedule for recreational sessions is somewhat limited. “We will be adding activities regularly, so please register on www.myactivecenter.com to see what activities are open,” stated Ayers.
Returning members can look forward to exciting events all planned around creating connections and enjoying vibrant activities together.
Successful Open House
On October 18, the center hosted a fantastic Open House that allowed attendees to explore the new space. “Tours were provided during that time, giving all attendees and staff the opportunity to share the endless possibilities that are to come at our new location,” Ayers described. The energy was palpable as members experienced the transformation firsthand.
BINGO & More Fun Events!
One standout event was the center’s first BINGO night at the new community center, which Ayers said was a resounding success! “With almost 50 people in attendance, it was so nice seeing everyone. A very special thank-you to our sponsor Oak Street Health Huntsville for hosting Birthday BINGO and caring for our members,” she enthused.
Registration is open for various classes such as Balance, Chair Cardio, Drumming, and Chair Yoga. These classes kicked off on October 23, making it the perfect opportunity for members to get active and engaged.
Halloween Festivities
As October rolls along, the excitement doesn’t stop there! On October 31, members are invited to a spooktacular Halloween BINGO Bash. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favorite costumes for a chance to win prizes. “The ghoulish gathering will start at noon,” confirmed Ayers.
Creative Workshops and Friday Films
The fun continues with a stained glass workshop scheduled for November 6 from noon to 2 p.m. Participants can learn basic techniques and create their own stunning piece of art for a fee of $40. It’s an excellent chance for active adults to dive into a new hobby!
Additionally, every Friday, members can treat themselves to a classic film during “Friday Film” afternoons. Coming up on November 1, the original “Ghostbusters” from 1984 will be showing from noon to 1:45 p.m. And let’s not forget, there’s free popcorn too!
Important Note for Visitors
For those planning to visit the new center, be aware that the road is closed on the Balch Road entrance to Browns Ferry Road, and all traffic must enter through Gillespie Road.
