MADISON CO., Ala. – Madison County Commissioners have greenlit a significant road expansion project that will enhance Wall Triana Highway to five lanes, gearing up for the anticipated construction of a Costco near Hwy. 72. The move comes as a strategic effort to accommodate increased traffic flow due to the Costco’s proximity to the area.
Local residents living off Wall Triana Highway express a blend of excitement and concern regarding the impending changes. Corey Salata, a Madison city resident, shares his enthusiasm about the convenience of having a Costco nearby but expresses worries about the potential surge in traffic. “We’re excited about the Costco being close, we’re definitely concerned about the traffic it’s going to bring, especially since it’s already so busy right around here,” said Salata.
Another resident, Angel Little, echoes similar sentiments, emphasizing the congestion issues already prevalent in the area. Little, who resides in a subdivision adjacent to Wall Triana, highlights the safety hazards posed by the current traffic conditions, particularly for young drivers in the neighborhood.
As the road expansion project progresses, hopes are high among residents like Salata for reduced commute times and improved traffic flow. The ongoing construction activities along Wall Triana Highway signal an impending transformation that could potentially alleviate the existing congestion woes for locals.
With Madison County leaders proactively planning for the Costco construction by widening Wall Triana Highway, the community anticipates both challenges and benefits associated with the upcoming changes. While concerns regarding increased traffic persist, the expansion project aims to address these issues and enhance the overall accessibility of the area.
