Hey there, Huntsville! It’s that time again when we take a deep dive into the world of dining in Madison County. Unfortunately, not all the restaurant scores from the latest health inspections are shining bright. The Madison County Department of Health did dozens of inspections last month, and some local favorites just managed to scrape through – or in some cases, didn’t even reach the mark!
Can you believe that a total of nine restaurants in our beloved county scored 84 or below during their inspections in October? Yikes! That’s the threshold that means they’ll need a reinspection within 60 days, so it’s safe to say we might want to keep our eyes peeled and our appetites cautious at certain spots. Some infractions aren’t just minor; we’re talking about serious issues like rodent feces, gnats, and moldy strawberries!
Looks like the ice machine had some debris hanging around, and the person in charge didn’t have a certified food manager certificate. Not a great start!
There were various foods in the reach-in cooler and freezer not labeled, and let’s just say, some fish was not up to temperature. Yikes!
Hand sinks were missing paper towels, and employee health agreements were nowhere to be found. Come on, guys!
Several gnats were seen buzzing around while some foods were definitely not at the right temperature. Not the cozy coffee experience we expect!
Not a good day for Baumhower’s as they had moldy strawberries in the cooler, a dirty ice chute, and multiple items out of temperature! Eek!
More problems here as several foods were not kept at the proper temperature, and guess what? There was no hot water!
Rodent feces were discovered in the back area and the ice machine? Definitely not clean. Plus, a food thermometer was missing!
There was a “brown residue” on the bar nozzle and some items were not stored properly. Double yikes!
This iconic breakfast spot had sliced tomatoes and other foods out of temperature, and employee health agreements? Missing in action!
With the health department aiming to keep our air fries fresh and our salads crisp, let’s hope these restaurants pick up their game before the next inspection rolls around! Remember, we all want a pleasant dining experience – it just takes following a few key health guidelines.
So next time you’re thinking about grabbing a bite, it might be a good idea to double-check those latest scores to keep your tummy and taste buds happy!
