Enable Madison County Secures Warehouse to Enhance Services

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.

In a significant move to bolster its Aging in Place program, Enable Madison County revealed its purchase of a pivotal warehouse. Long known for its relief work towards the elderly and disabled population in the county, the organization can now continue to deliver its services efficiently without disruption.

Key Facility Now Owned by Enable Madison County

The warehouse, a crucial facility in the organization’s operation, is primarily used for cutting, pre-building, and staging wheelchair ramps. It had been on sale since last year, threatening the continuity of Enable Madison County’s operations. However, with the generous contributions from over 20 donors and community contributors, the organization succeeded in purchasing the property.

Officials underscored the importance of the warehouse, which enables the organization to serve as many individuals as possible. Charles Jackman, a representative of Enable Madison County, described the warehouse’s function in the organization’s workflow. He said, “We prep all the sections needed for the next month’s ramps.” Adding that, “So instead of our volunteers going to the ramp site and build by hand, they’re able to come in here and pick up all the materials needed. It saves them several hours in all that heat.

Unveiling the Donor Wall

In a special event on Tuesday, the organization showcased a donor wall. Crafted by a local woodworker, the wall displays the names of all the philanthropists who donated for the warehouse purchase. The wall stands as a tribute to their support and contribution towards the enduring mission of Enable Madison County.

Impact on the Community

The purchase secures the future of the Aging in Place program, significantly impacting the lives of the elderly and disabled individuals in Madison County. By having a dedicated space to prepare and store necessary equipment, the organization can ensure a sufficient supply of wheelchair ramps and other essential aids. The warehouse acquisition implies that Enable Madison County will continue to significantly contribute to the betterment of the community for years to come.
