Madison Academy to Present ‘High School Musical – One Act Edition’

Madison Academy to Stage the Disney Channel Hit ‘High School Musical – One Act Edition’ this April

Madison – The Madison Academy Theatre Department is proud to announce their upcoming spring musical production, “High School Musical – One Act Edition”. The show, which catapulted the careers of several young Disney actors, is scheduled for theatrical performances between April 18-20 at the Madison Academy Performance Center.

A Synopsis of the Production

The immensely popular Disney Channel movie, “High School Musical,” serves as the inspiration for the “High School Musical – One Act Edition”. The musical tells the story of East High School students grappling with things like love-at-first-sight encounters, managing relationships with family and friends, and striking a balance between academics and extracurricular activities.

The adventure begins with students returning to school post-winter break, each one belonging to distinctive cliques such as The Jocks, The Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes. Troy, captain of the basketball team, discovers that Gabriella, a girl he met during his ski trip, is now attending East High, leading to a series of thrilling sequels.

Family-Oriented Entertainment

The “High School Musical – One Act Edition” is designed to offer sheer, family-friendly entertainment, with songs like “Get’cha Head in the Game”, “Bop to the Top”, “What I’ve Been Looking For”, “Stick to the Status Quo”, “Counting on You”, “We’re All in This Together”, and “Breaking Free”, which are likely to keep everyone in the audience tapping their feet.

Playwright David Simpatico has written the libretto (or the text) of the musical, with Bryan Louiselle having arranged and produced the music. The story is based on the Disney Channel movie, penned by Peter Barsocchini.

Showtimes and Ticket Information

The scheduled performances are set for April 18, 19, and 20 at 6:30 p.m., with an additional matinee show at 2 p.m. on April 20. Doors will open 45 minutes before showtime and concessions will be available. Ticket prices are $15 for general admission and $10 for students.
