Exciting New Leadership at Horizon Elementary School Promises Community Growth and Support

Exciting New Leadership at Horizon Elementary School

In the charming city of Madison, change is stirring at Horizon Elementary School! We are thrilled to announce that Tammy Brunton, an esteemed educator with over 14 years of experience, has accepted the role of Assistant Principal. She will be working closely with Principal Demetria Freeman to guide the school’s efforts in nurturing young minds.

A Journey Through Education

Tammy’s journey in education has been quite impressive. For more than a decade, she made her mark at Rainbow Elementary School, where she wore many hats as a teacher. From working with special education to teaching both fifth and third graders, her experience is diverse and rich. Recently, she took a bold step forward by participating in the Madison Aspiring Administrators’ Program (MAAP). This program is designed to mentor and prepare future leaders within the Madison City Schools system.

“I am thrilled to join Horizon Elementary School as the new Assistant Principal,” Tammy shared with enthusiasm. “My journey in education began at Rainbow Elementary School, and I can’t wait to embark on this new chapter.” She is particularly looking forward to collaborating with the dedicated teachers, staff, students, and parents to create a supportive and engaging environment.

Building Community and Growth

Tammy has always valued community-building activities. One noteworthy initiative she helped establish was the Rainbow Rockets Girls Running Club. This program was aimed at encouraging fifth- and sixth-grade girls to embrace the joys of running while fostering teamwork and fitness awareness. “Through this club, students had an opportunity to interact with peers while developing crucial physical fitness skills,” said Alice Lessmann, a parent and current member of the Madison Board of Education. Alice’s daughter, Leah, benefited from being in the club, highlighting how Tammy’s ideas have already positively impacted families in the community.

Going beyond academics, Tammy emphasized the importance of a well-rounded education experience. “Together, we will foster each child’s academic and personal growth while ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment,” she stated passionately. Her welcoming approach underlines her belief that education goes hand in hand with personal development.

Family and Personal Passions

On a personal note, Tammy is a devoted family member. She and her husband, Chris, have two delightful children, Millie and Thomas. As they prepare for this new chapter, Millie is especially excited about joining the Horizon community. “As a family, we love spending time outdoors and traveling,” she added. If you catch her running around the park, you can be sure that this dedicated administrator finds joy and balance through her love for running!

Looking Ahead

Tammy is stepping into her role as Assistant Principal, filling the vacancy left by Wendy Pharo, who has moved on to become Principal at Madison Elementary School. This transition marks a period of growth and opportunity for Horizon Elementary as they set their sights on innovative ways to enhance the educational experience for their students.

With bright aspirations and a community-centered philosophy, it’s clear that Tammy Brunton is ready to make a significant impact at Horizon Elementary School. We can’t wait to see how her leadership will help shape the future for the students of Madison!
