Area leaders make annual trip to Montgomery to meet with lawmakers

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville-Madison Chamber of Commerce leaders are making their annual trip to Montgomery to engage with lawmakers and state officials.

Local leaders from Huntsville are on their way to the state capital in hopes of bringing more business back with them. The Huntsville-Madison Chamber of Commerce will spend Wednesday meeting with lawmakers and other state leaders in Montgomery. A few hundred people from north Alabama go on this trip every year. They said this trip is a great way for local leaders to develop professional relationships with lawmakers.

“It gives you hands-on relationships with people,” said Laura Huckabee-Jennings, the CEO of Transcend. “People do things for people they know, people they like and it helps us build relationships and time with them and understand where they’re coming from and help them understand where we’re coming from.”

Chamber Members Engage in Productive Discussions

During the trip, chamber members engage in productive discussions with lawmakers and state officials to address various issues affecting the local community. The focus is on fostering collaboration and understanding between the business sector and government entities.
