Huntsville Shines Spotlight on Female Talent During Women in Music Week

Huntsville Celebrates Women in Music Week with Exciting Events!

Huntsville, Alabama is buzzing with energy as Music Month kicks into high gear! Starting September 14 and running through September 22, the city is rolling out the red carpet for Women In Music Week. This weeklong celebration is all about highlighting incredible female talent in the local music scene, and the best part? Most events are completely free!

Get Ready for an Unforgettable Kickoff

The festivities officially begin with Fly an Urban Soirée at Tangled String Studios on Saturday evening. This fabulous event is hosted by none other than chart-topping Christian R&B singer, Adia. “It’s an urban soirée, so it’s basically just a night of everyone coming, looking good, and having really cool acoustic music,” Adia expressed about the event, making it clear that it’s not just about the tunes but also about bringing folks together for a night of glam and fun.

Expect stellar performances from a lineup that includes Jazz McKenzie, GypsySoul, Meme B. Jones, and DJ Tarica Ja’Net. If you’re feeling spontaneous, keep an eye out as there are still a very limited number of tickets available for the soirée, which will take place from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the charming Lowe Mill. “We’ll be singing, singing, singing so it’ll be a really good time,” Adia shared, and it sounds like an evening you definitely won’t want to miss!

Sunday Showcases Local Artists

After kicking off the week in style, Sunday will have something equally exciting in store: a free music and dance showcase at the stunning Orion Amphitheater from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.. This event, named Love Jones Presents WIMW Showcase, is organized by Kaleka Jones, who is passionate about featuring local talent.

Kaleka mentioned how crucial it is to provide a platform for aspiring artists, stating, “We have some amazing talent in Huntsville, and it’s important to me to showcase their talent where they may not get it in other places.” This event symbolizes much more than just music; it embodies the support and encouragement that the local music community has for its talented female artists.

Daytime Delights: Lunch Lounge Performances

But wait, there’s more! If your evenings are packed, don’t fret. During Women In Music Week, you can enjoy delightful acoustic sets from female artists on Courthouse Square from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every weekday. Lunch Lounge is the perfect opportunity to take a break, grab your lunch, and soak up some sweet sounds.

Supporting Female Artists in a Tough Industry

Both Adia and Kaleka reflected on the challenges female musicians often face in the industry. Yet, they expressed enthusiasm about having a dedicated week to showcase their extraordinary talents. “I think it’s just an opportunity to stay positive and shine light on just how amazing women artists are,” Adia observed, and Jones echoed that sentiment, emphasizing how vital it is to celebrate the achievements of women in music.

Your Guide to Fun-Filled Events

While Women In Music Week is a highlight, remember that Huntsville’s Music Month runs through the end of September, culminating in the much-anticipated South Star Music Festival. So, whether you’re a music lover or just looking for a fun night out, Huntsville has something special for everyone during this vibrant month.

Whether you can attend one event or all of them, it’s a wonderful time to appreciate and support the amazing female artists that make up the rich tapestry of our local music scene. Let’s cheer them on together!
