HUNTSVILLE Woman Sentenced to 20 Years in Connection with Death of ‘Sweet Livia’ Robinson

HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA

A woman indicted for capital murder in the 2018 shooting of 3-year-old Livia Robinson pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and was sentenced on Monday. Brittany Kingston, who was originally indicted in the case along with Martin Evenes and Dominique Russell, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting into an occupied dwelling in connection with Livia’s death after a hearing on Monday.

Kingston originally pled guilty in November 2023. Evenes was sentenced to life in prison without parole after being found guilty of capital murder for shooting Livia in March 2023. During Kingston’s preliminary hearing back in 2018, Investigators testified that Livia was standing in the doorway of her Murray Road home when she was shot in the shoulder. The child’s mother later testified during Evenes’ trial that she and Livia had both been standing by the door when the shooting happened.

Details of the Case

Madison County Chief Trial Attorney Tim Douthit said that Kingston was in the car with Evenes when he fired the shots that killed Livia and was involved in the planning of the shooting. “Ms. Kingston was not the shooter nor the driver but was nonetheless involved in the case by aiding and abetting Mr. Evenes in the planning of the shooting,” He said. “She did not go to trial and instead pleaded guilty.”

Douthit said that 20 years is the maximum sentence possible for shooting into an occupied building, which is a class B felony. He added Kingston has been taken into custody to begin her sentence.
