Huntsville is buzzing with excitement as the new transit station is set to open its doors soon. This weekend, residents had the chance to get an exclusive sneak peek of the station and the updated routes that will soon be available. Transit Manager John Artry mentioned that the team dedicated two days to allow locals a first-hand look at the new service changes.
On Sunday, hopeful participants stepped inside the new station and enjoyed free rides on select new routes, showcasing the enhancements in the city’s transit system. Carol Gentz, a resident of Huntsville, expressed her enthusiasm: “I’m really excited about the new routes and the new transit center. I think it’s a great addition to the services in the city.”
Another attendee, Zane Breen from nearby Madison, shared, “It’s really nice to see the actual investments in our public transit. I love seeing the new station here. I’ve been following it for a while, and it’s incredible to see it now.”
The new transit station aims to enhance the way residents navigate the area, making it easier and more convenient to get around. Jim Locke, a South Huntsville local, shared his thoughts on the new options available: “First off, this will save gas. If you can use the bus as opposed to, you know, driving your car around.”
With 11 new routes established throughout the Huntsville Metro area, the service aims to serve a broader audience. The latest route extends south of the city, connecting residents to essential locations like the Walmart and Sandra Moon Center. Gentz noted, “I was really impressed that it went down to the Walmart to the Sandra Moon Center, so it’s really going to connect a lot of the services in the South Huntsville area.”
The Huntsville transit station is officially set to open on September 3. To celebrate this grand opening, the transit service will be offering free rides throughout the entire month, welcoming everyone to experience the improvements firsthand.
As the launch date approaches, the anticipation within the community grows, and residents are optimistic about the potential this new transit system holds for enhancing their daily commutes.
