There’s an urgent call for action from the Rose of Sharon soup kitchen in Huntsville, Alabama. The organization is asking the local community for contributions as they struggle to keep their services afloat amid increasing demand and dwindling supplies.
The Rose of Sharon soup kitchen currently provides over 300 meals every day to people in need. However, they have recently reported a severe depletion in their food supply due to increasing demand. Without immediate community assistance, the soup kitchen might have to turn away those needing their services in the Huntsville-Madison County area.
Austin Colle, a representative from the soup kitchen, expressed concern over the situation saying, “Without Huntsville, we wouldn’t be able to do our job.”. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in sustaining the soup kitchen’s operations and urged locals to step up with food donations.
The soup kitchen has listed the items they require urgently. These include large cans of beans, chili, vegetables, and fruit. They also seek donations of oatmeal, instant mashed potatoes, syrup, butter, eggs, sugar, sliced cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, milk, barbecue sauce, and ranch dressing. Other grocery items like grits, pinto beans, and brown sugar are also needed.
The community members who wish to contribute can find more information on the Rose of Sharon’s website on how they can assist. The organization is fervently hoping the community will rally around this cause to help them continue their vital work.
For years, the Rose of Sharon soup kitchen has been a beacon of hope for the less fortunate in Huntsville. By providing a warm meal and a caring environment, they have helped hundreds of individuals and families who are facing challenging times. This current situation is an opportunity for everyone to unite and ensure that such crucial community aids continue to operate and serve those in need.
