Huntsville Adjusts Schedule for South Star Music Festival Amid Rainy Weather

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — It seems like Mother Nature just couldn’t resist putting a little twist into the inaugural South Star Music Festival held at John Hunt Park this weekend! Heavy rainfall throughout the week has caused organizers to make some significant adjustments to the Day 1 schedule, causing a ripple effect among performers and fans alike.

A Changed Lineup

Late Friday afternoon, festival officials announced that the soggy conditions and potential for more rain on Saturday morning meant that they had to shuffle the lineup just a bit. The beloved rock band Candlebox is now set to kick things off on the Camellia Stage at **3 p.m.**, followed closely by the iconic Gin Blossoms on the Supersonic Stage at **3:45 p.m.** This means some of your favorite acts will start later than originally planned, and sadly, a couple of bands are taking an unexpected rain check.

In fact, the Nashville-based band Winona Fighter, which was part of the original lineup, has been dropped entirely from Saturday’s schedule. They shared their disappointment on Instagram, emphasizing that “safety for you and the festival goers is the first priority” and expressing their heartfelt understanding of the tough decision organizers had to make. They then urged their fans to “mosh in the mud for us,” a spirited call to keep the festival vibes going strong despite the weather!

Fan Reactions and Additional Changes

In the midst of all this, fans of the Texas indie rock quartet Dexter and the Moonrocks took to social media late Friday night to voice their concerns, fearing that the group had also been dropped from the lineup. While this change hasn’t been officially confirmed by festival organizers or the band just yet, it surely adds to the chatter among festival-goers who were eagerly anticipating a packed two days of great music.

What to Expect

Festival organizers are still expecting tens of thousands of attendees to arrive and enjoy a spectacular array of performances, featuring a diverse lineup that includes stars like Ludacris, Gwen Stefani, and The Goo Goo Dolls. Speaking of the festival-goers, a warm message went out to the South Star community, inviting everyone to join in a day of fun despite the rainy forecast.

“Hello South Star Friends! We are excited to see you tomorrow,” the statement read. “Mother Nature handed us a doozy of a task to clean up after the rain over the past few days, and we are working quickly to prepare for your arrival.” They have updated the gates opening time to **2:30 p.m.** and provided a friendly reminder to prepare for the wet conditions: “dress for the weather and wear your rain boots!”

Building Excitement

Despite the changes, the excitement is still palpable in Huntsville as locals and visitors alike get ready for the festival experience like no other. It stands as a great opportunity for people to shelve their worries and just enjoy the music, the food, and the ever-thrilling atmosphere of live performances.

As Saturday approaches, festival staff are doing everything they can to ensure the park is up to par for a safe and enjoyable experience. While the rain might have thrown a bit of a curveball, the spirit of community and love for music is strong, and that’s what really counts at the South Star Music Festival. Don’t forget your umbrellas and your dancing shoes—you’ll need them!
