This past Saturday, the sun was shining on the Optimist Recreation Center in the heart of Huntsville, where basketball dreams took flight. The Redstone 12U basketball team wrapped up their regular season on a triumphant note, defeating International with an impressive score of 44-23. What a way to end the season!
The boys in blue had their game faces on right from the start, showcasing their skills and teamwork. With an overall record of 8-3, Redstone demonstrated that they are a force to be reckoned with. Their steady performance throughout the season has left fans and families buzzing with excitement.
Leading the charge was point guard Judah Hite, who showcased outstanding talent and determination. With 14 points to his name, he also grabbed seven rebounds, snagged five steals, assisted once, and even blocked a shot! It was a remarkable display of athletic skill and basketball IQ, earning him the spotlight in this match.
Not far behind were his teammates, Carter Paulino and Terry Bassett, both scoring eight points each in the game. Paulino added to his tallies with two rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Meanwhile, Collin Francis made his presence felt with six points, five rebounds, and two steals. Talk about teamwork making the dream work!
Redstone came out strong, taking the lead after each quarter with scores of 14-3 after the first, 26-15 at halftime, and 38-18 after three quarters. Their solid offensive strategies kept them ahead while their defense gave a good showing, although there was room for improvement, especially as they prepare for the impending Metro tournament.
Even though the game didn’t go in their favor, the players from International put up a valiant effort. Davis Manning led the score for his team with eight points, while Kolton Good contributed six points and one rebound. Logan Pittman also chipped in with four points and five rebounds. Unfortunately, this match marked the end of the road for International, finishing their season with a 0-10 record.
As the dust settles on the regular season, Judah Hite reflected on how the team came together, working well offensively but knowing there’s always room for defensive tweaks. Excitement is in the air as a postseason tournament for youth basketball is set to kick off on February 17 at the same venue. The teams will be looking to elevate their games even higher, and fans are eager to see what the next round holds.
As Redstone prepares for their postseason adventures, the community is rallying behind these young athletes, looking forward to more thrilling games and cheering them to victory!
