The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) responded to a domestic violence call around 9:30 a.m. at the Reserve at Research Park and Waterstone apartment complex. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers heard gunfire. They quickly evacuated a woman and a child from the apartment before Sanders reportedly barricaded himself inside.

Violence Erupts

During the chaos, it was reported that Sanders fired shots at the woman as she tried to escape in front of an HPD officer. This prompted the officer to return fire, resulting in Sanders’ death.

Injuries and Response

The female victim suffered injuries during the incident, and both she and the child were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, none of the officers involved were injured.

Investigation Underway
