Huntsville Unveils Plans for New Park in MidCity Enhancement Project

Huntsville, Alabama is gearing up for a significant transformation in the MidCity District with the recent announcement of a new small park amidst a series of urban improvements. Local officials have shared that the city has awarded a construction contract for a major streetscape enhancement project to Bulls Construction Group.

Details of the Enhancement Project

Stax Street and Sanderson Street. This comprehensive project will introduce a variety of upgrades, including:

  • Roadway pavers
  • On-street parking
  • Decorative street lights
  • Concrete sidewalks
  • Landscaping and hardscaping

The Point: A New Green Space

As part of this revitalization, a quarter-acre park known as The Point will also be constructed. MidCity developer RCP Companies describes this park as a “pocket park,” intended to serve as a green space for the community to gather and relax in an urban setting. The park will feature a small pavilion and comfortable seating areas, providing a serene backdrop for residents and visitors alike.

Completing the Vision for MidCity

The City of Huntsville has stated that this park and accompanying enhancements are integral components of the ongoing development that aims to rejuvenate the area once occupied by the former Madison Square Mall. This initiative marks one of the final public improvement projects in the MidCity redevelopment effort, showcasing the city’s commitment to creating dynamic and inviting spaces for the community.
