Huntsville Native Selected as Auburn University’s Summer Graduation Student Marshal

AUBURN, Ala. – A proud moment for Huntsville’s community has arrived as a local graduate, Tiara Ransom, has been chosen to lead the College of Liberal Arts during Auburn University’s summer commencement ceremonies. The ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, August 3, at Neville Arena, beginning at 6 p.m.

About Tiara Ransom

Ransom, a former valedictorian of Valley Fellowship Christian Academy, is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Film from the School of Communication and Journalism, holding a minor in animation. Looking ahead to her career, she expressed her passion for filmmaking, stating, “I’ve always been fascinated by how movies can transport us to another world. With the right combination of screenplay, actors, camera work, and visual effects, films have a unique power to tell stories in ways that few other mediums can match.”

Involvement and Contributions

Throughout her time at Auburn, Ransom has been actively involved in various organizations, including the National Society of Black Engineers, Black Student Union, Auburn Film Club, New Media Club, and Active Minds. Her professional experience spans roles in photography and videography for respected organizations such as War Eagle Productions and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, among others.

Gratitude for Auburn University

In reflecting on her journey, Ransom expressed heartfelt appreciation for the supportive environment at Auburn University, saying, “I owe a great deal of gratitude to Auburn University for shaping my career aspirations and providing me with the tools to succeed.” She added that the diverse opportunities available at the university were instrumental in her development as a filmmaker and animator.

Commencement Details

This year’s commencement will feature an address from Auburn alumnus Beau Byrd, a partner at Birmingham’s Bradley Law Firm, promising to add an inspiring touch to the celebration. The Auburn community is ready to honor its graduates, especially Tiara Ransom, who represents Huntsville with pride as she takes this significant step into her future.
