Huntsville’s New Supergroup Dweeby Set to Launch Debut EP The Dweepee on October 25

Huntsville Welcomes a New Musical Supergroup: Dweeby

Huntsville, are you ready for some exciting news on the music front? A shiny new supergroup has emerged, and they are set to make waves with their upbeat sound and eclectic mix of genres. The trio, known as Dweeby, features three local artists who are ready to show off their talents with the release of their first EP, The Dweepee, on Friday, Oct. 25.

The Birth of Dweeby

What’s the story behind Dweeby? It all started when Jerome Villareal of Them Damn Dogs, Wanda Wesolowski of The Wanda Band, and Aaron Anderson of King Jeans became neighbors. Like many of us, their paths shifted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of being just friendly faces next door, they transformed into jam-session buddies, sharing their love for music in a new and exciting way.

The trio initially worked together on a music video for Villareal’s band, but that blossomed into live performances together at various events, including Sluice Fest 2021 and some cozy house shows. While enjoying each other’s company on stage, they started to see the potential of writing more songs. “We needed to fill in for time,” Villareal shared. “We played a few songs and thought we should write more songs and get an EP or something started.”

Creating Music Together

And that’s just what they did! Their collaboration quickly turned into the creation of an entire EP. Villareal expressed his admiration for his bandmates, saying, “It’s been really cool working with talented songwriters like Wanda and Aaron because they are seasoned musicians like me with interesting styles and creative melodies. I look up to them so much and I think we all look up to each other really.”

Dweeby’s self-proclaimed “multi-genre” or even “post-genre” sound makes it hard to pin them down to one specific style. The music blends elements of power pop, indie, grunge, post-punk, and acoustic, offering something fresh and unique to fans across the board. Villareal describes their sound as “a little all over the place” and emphasizes how the band successfully experiments within and between songs to craft a listening experience that’s fun and intriguing.

Recording The Dweepee

To bring this musical vision to life, Dweeby headed to Clearwave Recording Studios in Decatur. There, they teamed up with producer Jeremy Stephens and musician Joe Canada of Camacho, who helped sprinkle some of their magic onto the tracks. In a creative twist, the team even recreated the vibrant atmosphere of a rowdy bar for background noise, and Joe Canada lent his talents on the accordion and organ, adding more depth to their sound.

Singles and Launch Party

To give fans a taste of what’s in store, Dweeby has already released two singles, “I’m Just Sayin’” and “Barricade Disaster.” And now, they’re gearing up for the big moment — the full EP drop on Friday, Oct. 25!

To celebrate this accomplishment, Dweeby is throwing a launch party you won’t want to miss! You’re invited to join them at the Boardman house for a night filled with music and good vibes. The event kicks off at 7 p.m., with admission costing just $20 at the door. To sweeten the deal, every attendee will receive a signed CD of The Dweepee as a keepsake.

If you’re curious to learn more about the launch party or the venue, be sure to check out their Instagram @boardmanhsv. And don’t forget to find Dweeby and enjoy The Dweepee on Spotify when it drops on Friday!

This new musical adventure is sure to bring some exciting energy to the Huntsville scene. So mark your calendars and get ready to jam out with Dweeby!
