Huntsville Murder Suspect Kyle Lewter Due in Court on Tuesday

Harvest, Alabama – March 11, 2024

Madison County prosecutors are moving forward with a murder case that has shocked the community of Harvest. Kyle Lewter, a former campaign manager for State Senator Tom Butler, is set to appear in court on Tuesday following his arrest in connection to the brutal murder of Derek Walls.

Details of the Crime

Last Thursday, Kyle Lewter was taken into custody on charges of murder and sexual torture. The victim, Derek Walls, a 57-year-old resident of Harvest, was discovered lifeless in his home, sparking a thorough investigation by law enforcement authorities.

New Revelations in the Case

Tim Douthit from the district attorney’s office revealed that Lewter initially posted bond after his arrest for murder. However, new evidence surfaced leading to additional charges of sexual torture being filed against him. An official from the sheriff’s office confirmed that the two heinous crimes are closely intertwined.

Legal Proceedings and Funeral Arrangements

Kyle Lewter is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to attend a court hearing on Tuesday to address the charges leveled against him. In a somber turn of events, Derek Walls will be laid to rest this Saturday following a memorial service at Berryhill Funeral Home.

Community in Shock

The Harvest community remains deeply disturbed by the tragic events that have unfolded, as residents grapple with the loss of a beloved member and the unsettling nature of the crimes allegedly committed by a familiar face in the community.

Seeking Justice

As the legal process unfolds, Madison County prosecutors are dedicated to seeking justice for Derek Walls and ensuring that those responsible for his untimely death and the grievous act of sexual torture are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
