Huntsville Man Found Guilty in 2019 Shooting Case

In a significant court ruling on Wednesday, a Huntsville man was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide stemming from a deadly shooting that occurred in 2019. Patrick Lee Terry, 52, was originally charged with murder after the tragic incident led to the death of 28-year-old Anthony Fairley.

During the trial, the jury had the option to consider multiple charges, including both murder and the lesser charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. After deliberations, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty on the murder and manslaughter charges, ultimately convicting Terry on the lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide.

The shooting incident occurred in October 2019 when Fairley was found shot on Seminole Drive. He was rushed to Huntsville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. According to statements from the Huntsville Police Department, it was revealed that Fairley and Terry were acquainted and that a dispute between them escalated to the tragic shooting.

Sentencing and Consequences

As a result of the jury’s decision, Terry received a sentence of 12 months in the Madison County Jail but will receive credit for time served. In addition to the jail term, he also faces several fines associated with the conviction.
