Huntsville Lawyer Gives Back: Donates Shoes for Kids’ Back-to-School

A Community Effort to Equip Local Students

In Huntsville, a local lawyer is stepping up to help students get ready for school by donating new shoes. Tyler Mann, recognized for his community involvement, has aligned himself with Academy Sports and the Trash Pandas for the fourth consecutive year to ensure that children in need have proper footwear as they head back to class.

Successful Fundraising Initiative

This year’s fundraising efforts have resulted in the collection of cartfuls of shoes destined for kids supported by HEALS (Health Establishment and Local Services) in Madison County. Mann shared that to date, they have successfully provided 1,500 pairs of shoes to local children. This year alone, he is donating an impressive $3,000 worth of shoes, with Academy Sports matching this amount in gift cards.

The Joy of Providing New Shoes

Mann understands how impactful receiving new shoes can be for children. “When this opportunity was presented to me, it was a natural fit,” he stated, expressing his enthusiasm as a self-proclaimed “sneaker head.”

HEALS: More Than Just Shoes

While providing new shoes is a significant aspect of HEALS’s work, it also plays a crucial role in delivering health services to children. Executive Director Heather Mason explained that by being located within the schools, they can easily provide medical care without the need for transportation, making it convenient for both kids and their parents.

A Growing Need

HEALS serves over 56,000 kids in Madison County, making their mission essential to the community. Mason shared, “You just see their faces light up, and they get so excited,” highlighting the importance of these donations. Knowing they’ll have a new pair of shoes gives students a boost of confidence as they return to the classroom.

How to Get Involved

The initiative doesn’t stop here. HEALS accepts donations of new, child-sized shoes throughout the year. Those interested in contributing can drop off donations at HEALS Administrative Office, located at 515 Sparkman Drive, or at Mann’s office at 200 Clinton Ave W #405.

Making a Difference Together

This collaboration showcases how community members can come together to support children, ensuring they look and feel their best as they embark on another school year. The enthusiasm and dedication from individuals like Tyler Mann illustrate the power of collective action in enhancing the lives of youth in Huntsville.
