Sponsor Our ArticlesHuntsville Hospital is launching a major expansion project for its Madison Street Tower, investing $150 million to add 154,000 square feet of clinical space. The expansion will increase patient beds from 881 to 931, creating 120 new private rooms and generating 350 local jobs. Construction is expected to take two years and is part of a series of new projects enhancing the healthcare landscape in Huntsville.
Huntsville, we have some thrilling news to share! The Huntsville Hospital is kicking off a massive expansion project that’s set to change the healthcare landscape of our city. That’s right; the hospital is investing a whopping $150 million into the Madison Street Tower, and this is just the beginning!
A permit was issued just last month, on February 13, for an addition costing around $112 million. This makes it the largest project permit to be issued in the Huntsville area recently. Exciting, isn’t it? It comes at a time when there’s a bustling construction boom, with over $242 million in new projects getting underway since February 6 across Madison, Morgan, and Limestone counties. Our area is definitely on the rise!
The expansion will add an impressive 154,000 square feet of new clinical space to Huntsville Hospital. This five-story addition was given the green light by the Alabama Certificate of Need Review Board late last year, and it’s all set to focus its efforts at the northeast corner of the hospital where it meets Madison Street and St. Clair Avenue. Construction is projected to take about two years to wrap up, so hang tight, folks!
One of the most exciting aspects of this construction is that the hospital will increase its total number of patient beds from 881 to 931. The addition will create 120 new private patient beds, which is a huge relief for so many in our growing community. This includes 70 beds that will convert from double occupancy to single-room occupancy—how great is that?
The construction team responsible for this impressive expansion is Robins & Morton. This company previously built the Madison Street Tower back in 2006, so they know their way around this project! They are also working on a separate $3.7 million project for a 28,000-square-foot buildout in the area. Talk about a busy team!
If you thought that was all, you’re in for a treat! There are several other exciting construction projects happening around Huntsville as well. Some noteworthy projects include:
On the residential side, Davidson Homes leads the pack as the top home builder for the month, rolling out 50 permits worth $11.6 million. Not far behind is Lennar Homes of Alabama with 20 permits totaling $5.4 million. In fact, the most expensive home under construction right now is valued at an impressive $1.1 million and sits at 15900 Saban Lane in Athens!
The expansion of Huntsville Hospital is not just about more beds; it’s also about more jobs. The project is expected to create at least 350 new jobs for our region. As we look ahead, it’s clear that this expansion will not only improve healthcare capacity but also contribute positively to the economy in North Alabama. Huntsville, it’s time to get excited for the future!
So, whether you need medical care or are just looking for some great new places to eat, Huntsville is buzzing with growth and development that is sure to benefit everyone. Stay tuned for more updates as these projects come to life!
