Hey there, Huntsville! Are you ready for a holiday weekend packed with joy, shopping, and a whole lot of gratitude? Well, get ready because our lovely city is buzzing with excitement! This weekend is your chance to celebrate the holiday spirit while paying tribute to our amazing veterans. So grab your family, friends, and maybe even a festive hat, and let’s dive into what’s happening around town!
Kick off your weekend by heading over to the Rocket City Holly Jolly Market this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at University Pickers on Triana Boulevard SW! With over 200 vendors showcasing an incredible variety of local crafts, handmade goods, and unique holiday gifts, there’s truly something for everyone on your list.
Aside from the amazing shopping experience, you can indulge in tasty holiday treats from food trucks and enjoy some delightful entertainment. And guess what? You’ll get a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus themselves, spreading joy and holiday cheer! So, bring the kiddos and capture those magical moments.
On Sunday, get ready for another fabulous shopping experience at the Holiday Market at MidCity! From noon to 4 p.m., swing by The Camp at MidCity where over 150 local vendors will be showcasing their crafty wares. You’ll find delicious baked goods, beautiful handmade items, and fun holiday trinkets—a perfect way to support our local bakers, farmers, and artisans while enjoying live music and the festive atmosphere.
Plus, you won’t want to miss out on the chance to snap a picture with Santa and some surprise characters, making this market an absolute treat for the whole family!
Now, as we move through the weekend, let’s not forget the importance of honoring our veterans. On Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., stop by the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum for a special open house! This event is an incredible opportunity to connect with history while appreciating the sacrifices made by our service members.
The open house will include guided tours of the museum, refreshments, and a warm celebration of stories and service. Admission is free for all, so come out and show your appreciation for our local heroes!
And if you’re ready for an action-packed Monday, be sure to hustle downtown at 11 a.m. for the Veterans Day Parade! This is an event you don’t want to miss as the community comes together to honor our brave veterans. The parade route starts at lot K on Woodson Street, featuring students, public service members, and a whole lot of community spirit as we celebrate those who’ve served our country.
Try to grab a good spot along the route, or go check out the pre-parade show at Monroe Street! You can also enjoy the displays and festivities at Big Spring Park after the parade. It’s going to be a beautiful day filled with gratitude and community pride!
So whether you’re out shopping, enjoying live music, or catching the parade with family and friends, this weekend in Huntsville is bursting with holiday cheer and a deep appreciation for our veterans. Whatever you choose to do, make sure to soak in the good vibes! And hey, if you happen to see me while you’re out and about, don’t forget to say hello!
