In Huntsville, the local ballet scene is gearing up for an exciting new chapter as the Huntsville Ballet Company unveils its lineup for the 61st season. Following the overwhelming success of its 60th season, the company is poised to thrill audiences with a blend of traditional and original performances, promising to enchant both loyal patrons and newcomers.

Artistic Vision and Community Impact

Artistic Director Phillip Otto emphasizes the commitment to cultural contribution in the region. He describes the upcoming season as “mysteriously powerful,” reflecting the company’s dedication to raising the standards of dance in Huntsville. Otto highlighted the role of the ballet company in local education, stating that it actively partners with schools to incorporate dance into various subjects, thereby enriching the learning experience for students.

Performance Lineup

Tickets for the season go on sale on September 15, promising audiences a variety of performances:

  • HBC UNPLUGGED – Scheduled for October 25-27 at the Dream Theatre, this opening event will feature Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” choreographed by Otto, along with the world premiere of “Night Songs,” composed and performed live by local artist Jackson Love.
  • THE NUTCRACKER – This beloved holiday tradition returns from December 13-15 at the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall, featuring Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. This year marks the 56th production of Tchaikovsky’s classic, showcasing a magical tale filled with wonder.
  • DANCER’S CHOICE – Taking place February 13-16, 2025, in the Huntsville Ballet Company Studio, this series allows dancers to express their creativity through choreography. The intimate performance space fosters direct interaction between the audience and performers.
  • SWAN LAKE – Rounding out the season from April 18-20, 2025, this cherished ballet returns to the Dream Theater with an additional act this time. Featuring the highly technical Black Swan Pas de Deux and the enchanting music of Tchaikovsky, this performance promises to captivate all who attend.
