Huntsville Ballet Company Announces Exciting 61st Season

Season Highlights

Huntsville is buzzing with excitement as the Huntsville Ballet Company gears up for its 61st season. Following the remarkable success of their 60th season, the company promises a captivating lineup that will delight both longtime fans and newcomers alike. Artistic Director Phillip Otto describes this year’s theme as “an intriguingly powerful season,” hinting at the magic and artistry to be showcased throughout the year.

Performances to Look Forward To

HBC UNPLUGGED

Kickstarting the season is HBC UNPLUGGED, scheduled for October 25-27 at the Dream Theatre. This opening act features the exhilarating “Four Seasons” by Vivaldi, masterfully choreographed by Otto. Additionally, audiences can experience the world premiere of “Night Songs,” a piece composed and performed live by local artist Jackson Love. A cherished tradition will continue, allowing attendees to meet and interact with the dancers and directors after each performance.

The Nutcracker

As December approaches, it wouldn’t be the holiday season without “The Nutcracker”, returning for its 56th production on December 13-15 in the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. This beloved ballet, accompanied by the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, showcases the enchanting story of Clara, her prince, and the magical world around them with an unforgettable score by Tchaikovsky. This production features talented dancers from the Huntsville Ballet School.

Dancer’s Choice

Next, in February 2025, the company will present Dancer’s Choice from February 13-16 at the Huntsville Ballet Studio. This series allows dancers to showcase their own choreography across various genres in a more intimate setting, creating a unique connection with the audience. Interested audience members are encouraged to reserve limited seating for these special performances.

Swan Lake

Finally, the grand finale of the season will be the visually stunning “Swan Lake”, returning to the stage from April 18-20, 2025. This highly anticipated performance will be accompanied by the Huntsville Ballet Orchestra at Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. An expanded presentation of Tchaikovsky’s timeless masterpiece will include the addition of Act III, featuring the iconic Black Swan Pas de Deux, noted for its technical challenges, including the demanding 32 fouettes—sure to leave audiences spellbound.

Tickets for all performances will be available starting September 15. For further information, performance details, and ticket reservations, visit huntsvilleballet.org or call 256-539-0961.
