“I pulled up and I saw a man standing at a door with just smoke and fire coming out of it. I had to physically pull him out,” said Kirkpatrick, noting the urgency of the situation. Thanks to his intervention, the man received the medical attention he needed.

Lesley Cooper, another resident, shared her experience after receiving a frantic call from her boyfriend while she was in a meeting. “They made him leave the apartment before he could grab the animals,” she recalled, clearly worried about her beloved cat.

Fortunately, fire officials prioritizing the safety of the human residents before returning to save pets like Cooper’s cat, Tia. “He said hang on and got two of the firemen who walked in and got her. We told them exactly where she would be,” Cooper described, relieved when the firefighters successfully rescued Tia. “They got her and she bolted out, and the firefighters were chasing her down for me, so it is just a good ending for us.”
