Huntsville Animal Services Trying to Clear Shelter After 70 Dogs Dropped Off in One Week

Huntsville, Alabama – Huntsville Animal Services is facing a crisis as 70 dogs were dropped off at the shelter within a span of one week. The sudden influx of animals has left the shelter at full capacity, prompting urgent calls for adoptions and fostering.

Overwhelmed Shelter

Virgie Graham, the Interim Director of Huntsville Animal Services, expressed concern over the situation, stating that the shelter is struggling to accommodate the large number of dogs that have been brought in. With limited space and resources, the staff is working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of all the animals under their care.

Appeal for Adoptions and Fostering

In an effort to clear the shelter and find loving homes for the dogs, Huntsville Animal Services has announced a special adoption drive. From Friday, May 3, to Saturday, May 11, the shelter is waiving fees on most adult dogs and cats. This initiative is aimed at encouraging more people to consider adopting a furry companion and helping alleviate the burden on the shelter.

Meet Honey Bun

One of the dogs currently available for adoption is Honey Bun, a 2-year-old collie lab mix weighing 50 pounds. She is fully vetted, including being spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Honey Bun is described as a friendly and affectionate companion, ready to bring joy to a new family.

Community Support Needed

Huntsville Animal Services is urging the community to come forward and support their efforts in clearing the shelter. Whether through adoption, fostering, or spreading the word, every little contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of these animals.

How You Can Help

If you are considering adding a pet to your family, now is the perfect time to visit Huntsville Animal Services and meet the dogs and cats in need of homes. By adopting or fostering an animal, you are not only saving a life but also giving an animal a chance at a brighter future.

For those unable to adopt or foster, there are other ways to help, such as volunteering at the shelter, donating supplies, or simply spreading awareness about the current situation. Every act of kindness towards these animals is deeply appreciated.

Together We Can Make a Difference

As the community rallies together to support Huntsville Animal Services in this time of need, there is hope that all 70 dogs will eventually find loving homes. The dedication and compassion shown by both the shelter staff and the public demonstrate the power of coming together for a common cause.

Let’s stand united in ensuring a brighter future for these deserving animals. Together, we can make a difference and provide a second chance to those who need it the most.
