Damage and power outages across the Tennessee Valley

Early morning storms swept through the Tennessee Valley, leaving a trail of damage and power outages in their wake. Crews are now working tirelessly to restore service and help residents affected by the severe weather.

Madison County Impact

Todd Long from Huntsville Utilities reported that most of the power outages in Madison County are clustered throughout the county, with a significant outage affecting the Huntsville medical district. The area most impacted stretches from Pratt Avenue South to Governors Drive and Gallatin Street east to Owens Drive. As of now, approximately 700 residents are still without power.

Jackson County affected areas

In Jackson County, the Stevenson Police Department has advised people to avoid several areas due to downed power lines and trees. These areas include Steam Plant Road, Peach Tree Drive, Hwy 277 from Rudders Funeral Home to Cumberland Health and Rehab, and several county roads and sections of Hwy 72. At the peak of the storm, around 2,700 residents lost power in Jackson County.

Other affected areas

In addition to Madison and Jackson Counties, other areas such as Morgan County, Marshall County, and Lauderdale County also experienced power outages and damage. Viewers shared photos of downed trees in Arab and Bryant, showcasing the severity of the storm’s impact.

Response and ongoing efforts

Crews are working around the clock to restore power and address the damage caused by the early morning storms. Huntsville Utilities and local authorities are coordinating response efforts to ensure safety and timely restoration of services. Residents are encouraged to report any additional issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
