HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A devastating two-car accident occurred on **Highway 72 Eastbound** near **Shields Road** on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of one individual.
The crash, which happened around **11:30 AM**, involved a **truck** and another vehicle, leaving the latter pinned underneath the truck, as confirmed by **Don Webster**, a spokesperson for HEMSI. As of now, the identity of the victim has not been released.
The scene remains active with emergency responders from the **Moores Mill Volunteer Fire Department** still on site. As of 1 PM, one travel lane is open in both directions, but **Highway 72 Eastbound** is expected to be closed for several hours, causing significant delays. Travelers venturing from **I-565/72** towards **Gurley** are advised to take **Old Gurley Road** or find alternative routes to avoid the blockage.
