HUNTSVILLE – As the summer sun begins to fade, the festive spirit is already beginning to shine bright in Huntsville with the official announcement of the 2024 Huntsville Christmas Parade. Set to take place on Tuesday, December 3, this year’s event promises to be a spectacular showcase of holiday cheer, themed “Christmas in Toyland!”
During a lively press conference held at the Von Braun Center, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle shared his enthusiasm for this year’s theme, which celebrates the magic of toys and the creativity of childhood dreams. “Everyone remembers a favorite childhood toy, and this year’s Christmas Parade will celebrate the magic of toys, youthful imagination, and holiday traditions,” said Mayor Battle.
Parade participation is officially open, having launched on September 5, and will remain available until October 11. Those wishing to join in the festivities can find registration details online. With limited spaces available, early registration is highly encouraged to ensure a spot in this beloved Huntsville tradition.
Float entries will be evaluated by a panel based on Creativity, Execution, and Theme Interpretation, adding an element of friendly competition to the festivities. WRSA Program Director and Morning Show Host Abby Kay commented, “This year’s theme really opens the doors wide for all kinds of exciting float ideas. It’s going to be a giant Toyland in Downtown Huntsville!”
The highly anticipated parade will feature over 80 exciting floats, lively animals, and marching bands, united in the spirit of the holiday season. Nick Rockhill, Vice President of Bank Independent, emphasizes the bank’s commitment to the community, stating, “We are proud to support the Huntsville Christmas Parade again this year and serve our community alongside Mix 96.9 and the Von Braun Center.”
Starting at 6:00 p.m., the parade will kick off on Clinton Avenue near the U.S. Post Office, traveling through downtown Huntsville and concluding at AM Booth’s Lumberyard.
This year, participants looking to enjoy a special Pre-Parade Party and VIP Viewing Area can do so by donating a tangible item to the designated non-profit beneficiary, Grandparents as Parents (GAP). Keith Lowhorne, GAP President, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “This event brings our community together in celebration, and we are proud to represent the countless grandparents who have stepped into the role of parents.”
