Huntsville Botanical Garden to Host New Free Farmer’s Market

The Huntsville Botanical Garden (HBG) has announced that it will be hosting a new farmer’s market event, open to members of the public and completely free of charge. The farmer’s market, titled ‘Roots & Shoots’, is set to take place on the fourth Saturday of every month for the entire summer.

Summer Farmer’s Market Series

The free admission farmer’s market is scheduled to happen from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Grisham Pavilion, situated within the Huntsville Botanical Garden at 4747 Bob Wallace Avenue in Huntsville, Alabama. The market is expected to be organized every fourth Saturday in June, July, and August.

Visitor Programs Coordinator for HBG, Sharon Singletary, expressed her excitement about the initiative, emphasizing it as an “opportunity for shoppers to buy fresh, delicious food directly from local farmers and food businesses” and calling it a wonderful way to support local growers.

A Showcase of Local Produce

Local growers, artisans, and farmers from around the area will have the chance to showcase and sell a range of locally sourced produce, meats, and homemade products. Visitors will be given the unique opportunity to buy goods directly from their producers, ensuring freshness and quality.

The best part about this event is that a visit to the botanical gardens is not mandatory to attend the farmer’s market. This means that everyone and anyone can come and enjoy the market without having to pay any garden admission fees.

Vendor Applications Still Open

Furthermore, the organizers have announced that there are spaces still available for interested vendors. Potential sellers of produce, food items, or hand-crafted goods are invited to apply online to secure a spot. The management has asked vendors to first read the rules and guidelines provided on their official website before sending in their applications via email.

For those who require additional information or have any questions regarding the farmer’s market, Visitor Programs Coordinator Sharon Singletary can be contacted via email at ssingletary@hsvbg.org.

Conclusion

This integrative event is a fantastic way for the community to come together to support each other in a beautiful location, adding a fresh appeal to the term ‘farm-to-table’. Not only does this event help local growers and businesses gain visibility, but it also promotes healthier and sustainable practices by encouraging the consumption of fresh, locally-sourced food.

So, mark your calendars now for the Roots & Shoots Farmer’s Market at Huntsville Botanical Garden. It’s your chance to enjoy and support local produce while enjoying the perks of a picturesque setting.
