In an exceptional act of encouragement to potential pet owners, Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) has chosen to wave off most adoption fees for adult dogs for the entire month of March.
“Our hope is that more adults dogs will find loving homes through this initiative,” stated interim Director of Animal Services, Virgie Graham. She further added, “We believe the luckiest a dog can get is to find a good home. We are overwhelmed with dogs who are just waiting to be someone’s new best friend. Perhaps even more than just a Lucky Charm!”
HAS continues to strive in the care of pets, prior to their adoption, by providing them with necessary health services. Ensuring the wellbeing of these animals, they’re treated for flea and tick prevention, neutered, microchipped, spayed, and vaccinated. Additionally, the adopted pet will be given a city license and a complimentary bag of pet food, depending on the availability of supplies.
The Huntsville Animal Services is located at 4950 Triana Blvd SW. The operation hours are available to interested pet owners as follows: Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an extended operation time on Tuesdays until 6 p.m., and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who need more information about adoptable pets can refer to this list.
Apart from this encouraging initiative, HAS also offers other options like fostering and sleepovers for those unable to adopt a pet immediately, indicating a care deeper than merely re-homing these animals.
“It is our responsibility to ensure every animal finds love, warmth, and care in a home that suits them best,” shared Graham, putting the commitment of the HAS team into words.
The waived-adoption-fee initiative has been positively received by the community, with increased footfall at the shelter, making it apparent that the decision to waive adoption fees was a step in the right direction.
This noble initiative by HAS carries the potential to change the lives of many adult dogs, offering them a second chance at life and happiness in caring homes. Anyone considering pet adoption is urged to take this opportunity to give an adult dog a loving home and, in turn, be rewarded by their unconditional love, loyalty and companionship.
