Huntsville, Alabama, we’ve got some exciting news for you! It’s that time of year again. Yes, you guessed it—TVL Teens is back for its second year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! If you’re new to this heartwarming initiative, let’s fill you in on all the details and help light up the holidays for the teens at Harris Home!
What’s Harris Home All About?
So, you might be wondering, “What’s this Harris Home all about?” Well, it’s a special foster residence dedicated to supporting young men aged 13 to 21. Picture this: these young guys arrive at the door, often in the middle of the night, without a family to turn to, without a bed to call their own, and sometimes even without basic necessities like food and clothing. It’s a tough situation that no child should have to face, and thankfully, the incredible volunteers at Harris Home do everything in their power to provide a supportive and loving environment.
However, as the holiday season approaches, volunteers work tirelessly to make Christmas magical for these teens. Unfortunately, a lot of local toy drives focus on toys for little ones—think Legos and Hot Wheels. While those are fun for younger kiddos, the older teens at Harris Home yearn for gifts that resonate more with them. This holiday season, they’re hoping for things like Nike clothes and Beats headphones—the stuff that truly makes them feel special.
How You Can Help!
Here’s where you, fabulous Huntsville community, can step in! From December 2 to December 13, we’re calling on you to help with gift donations directly to the teen boys at Harris Home! Want to contribute to making a young man’s holiday brighter? All you need to do is drop off your gifts at the WAFF 48 station during standard business hours—Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Prefer mailing it? You can send your gifts to 1414 North Memorial Parkway. How easy is that?
Need Gift Ideas?
Don’t know what to pick? No worries! The teens have shared their own wish lists, giving you tons of inspiration to choose from. We’re talking about items that they genuinely want and need, so make sure to check back frequently to see what’s being purchased and what is still needed. It’s really as simple as picking something from the list, wrapping it up with love, and delivering those good vibes!
