Madison’s Hogan Family YMCA is set to host a carnival-style day of fun and fitness on April 20th to celebrate the annual Healthy Kids Day. The event, hosted by Heart of the Valley YMCA, is designed to give local children a healthy start to a new season.
The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon, is set to be a celebration of “kids being kids,” according to Jennifer Dykes, Director of Marketing and Communications for Heart of the Valley YMCA. Visitors to the free event can expect a host of family-friendly activities designed to encourage healthy children, healthy families, and a healthy start to the spring and summer seasons.
Activities slated for Healthy Kids Day include a petting zoo, inflatable play structures, games, arts and crafts, and face painting. Local vendors will be present and fitness demos will be conducted to promote physical activity among the youngsters. Additionally, information regarding YMCA’s summer programs will be available to parents and caregivers at the event.
Ensuring children stay active physically and mentally through the summer is crucial, says Jeff Collen, the Interim CEO of Heart of the Valley YMCA. Collen emphasized the YMCA’s commitment toward providing resources to families for fostering healthy habits, regardless of the season.
Healthy Kids Day, a free community event, aims to motivate families to maximize the various summer activities offered by the YMCA. “Heart of the Valley YMCA is a leading nonprofit organization that has been committed to strengthening community for over 114 years. Our goal is to improve overall health and well-being, ignite youth empowerment and demonstrate the importance of connections in and across our community,” adds Collen.
The national sponsor for Healthy Kids Day is “Peanuts,” the iconic comic strip owned by Peanuts Worldwide. The Southeast Family YMCA in Huntsville is also set to celebrate Healthy Kids Day on April 20th from 9 to 11 a.m.
The Heart of the Valley’s association office, located at 238 Business Park Blvd., Building 23B, Suite 101 in Madison, provides further details about the Healthy Kids Day event.
