The tragic death of four-year-old Kaiden D. Everson has left his family in mourning as they struggle to come to terms with the heartbreaking loss. The young child, described by his grandfather as a “little sweet prince,” passed away on Sunday in Huntsville following a gunshot wound at a residence.
Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill confirmed the devastating news, revealing that Kaiden was pronounced dead at Huntsville Hospital shortly after 8 a.m. on that fateful Sunday. While Berryhill deferred further inquiries to the Huntsville police, a spokesman for the department disclosed that the shooting is believed to be accidental, and potential charges could be forthcoming.
Amid the grief and disbelief, Kaiden’s grandfather, James Ahlschlager, took to social media to share his profound sadness and pay tribute to his beloved grandson. In a heartfelt message on a GoFundMe page set up to cover funeral and related expenses, Ahlschlager reminisced about Kaiden’s recent fourth birthday celebration and the joy they shared at a Monster trucks event.
“I am devastated,” Ahlschlager expressed in a Facebook post. “My entire family is in disbelief and we are all having difficulties (coping) with this madness. This beautiful little boy was full of life (and) didn’t deserve this.”
Describing Sunday as the “absolute worst day” of his life, Ahlschlager poured his heart out on social media, struggling to come to terms with the tragedy that befell his family. “I didn’t want to wake up to this news this morning,” he shared. “I can’t breathe, my heart hurts, and I can’t stop crying. My entire family alongside the Everson family has been devastated!!! My poor baby…Rest in Peace my little sweet prince…Grandpa will always love you and will see you soon!”
As news of Kaiden’s untimely passing spread, an outpouring of support and sympathy from the community followed. The GoFundMe page, aimed at assisting the family during this trying time, quickly garnered donations, with contributions pouring in to help reach the $20,000 goal.
Friends, family, and even strangers united in grief and solidarity, offering their condolences and support to the grieving family as they navigate the painful aftermath of their loss.
