Owens Cross Roads, Ala. — It was a bustling morning in the charming town of Owens Cross Roads as hundreds of eager customers flocked to the newly opened Food City. Excitement was in the air as folks lined up early to grab some fantastic deals and explore this fresh addition to their community. As divisional executive vice president Rodney Dillard shared, “We had 200 [people] at the door this morning before we opened up. We’re very excited to be here and ready to serve the Huntsville market.”
To kick off their grand opening festivities, the first 200 customers were treated to complimentary sausage, a biscuit, and coffee, along with a special commemorative coin valued at $35. It was a delightful way to show appreciation to the community for their support and excitement. As patrons entered, the warm aromas from the bakery immediately enveloped them, enticing everyone to check out what delicious offerings awaited them.
Food service supervisor Trish Kenney shared that bringing the store to life took a great deal of work and dedication. “It’s a lot of work to get started, but I’m telling you that we’re pros in doing that. We come in from the ground up and get all of our product baked and ready, fresh, for you,” Kenney said. With around 70% of everything made in-store from the bakery and deli, it’s clear they take freshness seriously. Customers could hardly wait to sample the home-cooked goodness and grab a few items for their own kitchens.
But the excitement doesn’t end here! The Owens Cross Roads location is just the beginning for Food City in northern Alabama. This store is the second location in that area and the very first in Madison County. Dillard shared some exciting news about what’s in store for the community: “One is on Highway 72. One is on Memorial Parkway…and then one is on Governor’s Drive downtown.” These additional sites are set to open in the spring, giving the locals even more opportunities to shop closer to home.
This initiative is part of a larger plan to open six Food City locations across northern Alabama, representing a whopping $100 million investment. This expansion is expected to bring nearly 1,000 jobs to the region, creating a significant boost for the local economy. The enthusiasm in the air during the opening day was palpable, with patrons exchanging stories about their shopping habits and expressing their joy over the new options available to them.
With each new location, shoppers can expect the same quality and service that makes Food City a favorite among locals. Dillard mentioned that they’re committed to delivering not just groceries, but an experience that makes people feel valued. As Owens Cross Roads embraces its newest retail establishment, there’s a sense of optimism spreading throughout the community. Who knows? Food City might just become the go-to spot for families looking to gather, shop, and enjoy delicious homemade goodies together!
If you haven’t had the chance to visit yet, now is the perfect opportunity to check out what all the buzz is about. With their commitment to freshness, quality, and community, Food City is more than just a grocery store; it’s a place where neighbors can come together and share in the joy of good food and good company. Remember, the excitement doesn’t stop here; keep your eyes peeled for more grand openings and amazing deals in the upcoming months!
