Another Food City Makes its Way to Huntsville

Expanding its reach on May 22, 2024, Food City officials and representatives from the City of Huntsville announced plans for the development of a third Food City in Huntsville. Less than two weeks after groundbreakings at North Memorial Parkway and Governors Drive, a permit was issued for a new grocery outlet at 150 Old Gurley Road in the northeast region of the city.

The Third Food City: A $5.8 Million Proposition

The responsible authority has issued the building permit to KVAT Food Stores, the parent company of Food City, for the construction of an approximately $5.8 million building marking as the third Food City location in Huntsville. JA Street & Associates, a renowned builder based in Blountville, Tennessee, has come on board for the building project.

An Exciting Addition to Huntsville’s Grocery Landscape

The new Food City, strategically situated at Old Gurley Road, is expected to enhance the city’s grocery options and offer residents in the northeast of the city quick and convenient access to a fresh and wide variety of food items. As a brand, Food City has already established itself as a quality-oriented grocery store chain, with a reputation for providing value-for-money products and amiable customer service.

Onward and Upward with Growth

This development is seen as a substantial step in Huntsville’s growth strategy. It contributes to local commerce, involves potential job creation, and augments residents’ access to top-shelf amenities, aligning with the city’s aspiration of becoming a leading urban locale.

In Closing…

With the third Food City coming to Huntsville, the city’s residents are enthusiastic about the affluent grocery shopping experience and expanded choices. As the construction gets underway, the residents of Old Gurley Road and surrounding areas eagerly await their new neighbor. The forthcoming Food City is an attestment to Huntsville’s commercial growth and appeal to businesses, serving as a robust indicator of its thriving and active economy.

While more information on construction timelines or store opening dates is forthcoming, what’s clear is the pace at which Huntsville continues to grow, offering citizens neighborhood resources, business opportunities, and a thriving environment to call home.
