This event, created by Deputy Chaplain Kari Childress, aims to build community and support among women who have served in the military. Attendees can enjoy food, games, and meaningful connections while honoring Women’s History Month and the unique challenges faced by female veterans.
Huntsville, Alabama is about to host a fantastic event dedicated to our brave female veterans! VFW Post 2702 is planning its very first Female Veterans Fellowship to take place on Saturday, March 22nd. Mark your calendars because this gathering is more than just an ordinary event; it’s a heartfelt celebration of the women who have served in the military.
The festivities are happening from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the VFW Post located at 2900 North Memorial Parkway. If you’re a female veteran, or know one, this is an excellent opportunity to come together, enjoy some food, play games, and create connections. It’s all designed to provide a relaxed and friendly environment where these amazing women can share stories and camaraderie.
This event is the brainchild of Deputy Chaplain Kari Childress. What sparked this wonderful initiative? During her time at the post, she realized that there were only 29 female military members listed. That’s right; the number is surprisingly low! This revelation led Carrie to understand that many female veterans go unnoticed and unrecognized. With this fellowship, she aims to change that narrative.
As the month of March celebrates Women’s History Month, there couldn’t be a more fitting time to honor the contributions and sacrifices made by women in the military. It’s essential to show recognition and appreciation to these veterans, ensuring they don’t have to navigate their experiences in silence. Women veterans often face unique challenges that deserve support and understanding, and this fellowship is a step toward acknowledging their service.
The Female Veterans Fellowship isn’t just about the food and games, even though that sounds fun! It’s about building a community where female veterans can feel valued and appreciated. The event offers a perfect platform for network building, creating friendships, and supporting one another. It’s a safe space where women can come together to celebrate their experiences and contributions without any fear of judgment regarding their status as veterans.
So, how can you get involved? If you’re a female veteran or know someone who is, be sure to spread the word! This gathering can make a significant difference in the lives of these women, allowing them to connect with peers and engage in meaningful conversations. For those who might have any questions or want more details about the event, Deputy Chaplain Kari Childress is here to help. You can reach out via email at VFW.2702.chaplain@gmail.com or by calling 256-783-9761.
Don’t miss out on this special occasion to uplift and celebrate female veterans! Whether you’re a veteran yourself or an ally, your presence at the Female Veterans Fellowship will make a positive impact. Let’s come together to honor those who have served our nation with courage and determination. See you there!
