As the crisp air of autumn settles in, families are gearing up for a delightful day out at Tate Farms in Meridianville, Alabama. This beloved farm has been a go-to spot for pumpkin picking for nearly three decades, and this year, they’re unveiling a brand-new attraction that promises to add an extra dash of fun to your fall festivities!
That’s right! Tate Farms has officially launched a one-of-a-kind “dairy-go-round” that has been lovingly crafted in Italy. Imagine the thrill of riding on adorable farm animals instead of the traditional carousel horses! This unique ride has been three years in the making and showcases how Tate Farms continues to bring joy and creativity to the local community.
Co-owner Stewart McGill shared that their journey to create the dairy-go-round began over three years ago. “We wanted to stay true to our theme of being a family farm,” he explained. “Adding attractions like this keeps the experience unique to Tate Farms.” It took about 18 months for each whimsical animal to be hand-molded before they were shipped to Alabama for assembly last month.
When you step onto this special carousel, you’ll find an array of delightful creatures to choose from. You can hop on the back of a cow, a rooster, a pig, a goat, or even relax in a charming wheelbarrow or wicker basket. It’s an adventure that invites everyone to embrace their inner child while celebrating the charm of farm life.
While the dairy-go-round is undoubtedly a main attraction, Tate Farms is packed with activities that make it a perfect day out. With over 80 acres of pumpkin fields, you can wander through and pick the perfect pumpkin to take home. But that’s just scratching the surface! Visitors can enjoy a variety of fun challenges and activities such as climbing through corn cribs, bouncing on jump beds, and sliding down numerous slides in the playground areas.
For those who work up an appetite, Tate Farms has you covered. You can sample their famous pumpkin slushies and homemade lemonade, perfect drinks to quench your thirst after a day of fun outdoors.
Located at 8414 Moores Mill Road in Meridianville, Tate Farms is open from Wednesday to Saturday throughout October. Admission times and prices vary, making it easy for just about anyone to enjoy this amazing experience. Be sure to check out their website for more details on what the farm has to offer and to plan your visit!
Stewart McGill expresses a deep commitment to enriching the community through their farm. “We’ve really become a destination in the Madison County and the Tennessee Valley region,” he said. The McGill family has dedicated themselves to ensuring their visitors have a wonderful time, with plenty of activities to create lasting memories.
As the leaves begin to change colors, there’s no better time to gather your loved ones and head to Tate Farms for a day filled with laughter and joy. Whether it’s picking the perfect pumpkin, enjoying delicious treats, or experiencing the whimsical dairy-go-round, Tate Farms promises to provide an unforgettable autumn outing!
